Sally Hansen Triple Shine Twinkled Pink and Sparkling Water

Hello again friends! Today on the blog I have two new colours from the Sally Hansen Triple Nail Colour collection. These two colours will be released beginning January 2014 nationwide across Canada.

Sally Hansen's Triple Shine Nail Colour "is formulated with an Ultimate Shield Complex, exclusive to Sally Hansen. The innovative one-of-a-kind formula is designed to help polish withstand the wear and tear of everyday living, to deliver high impact colour and maximum shine."

This new collection contains 29 different colours categorized into three colour palettes including Iridescence, Pop and Fanta-Sea. The colours we received, Twinkled Pink and Sparkling Water were both from the Fanta-Sea category.

Onto the swatches...

Sally Hansen Satin Glam Chic Pink and Crystalline

We are back to our regular programming! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Last week southern Ontario was hit with an awful ice storm and we were without power for a couple days. It was pretty scary knowing so many homes were effected when the temperature dropped to -21 degrees one night. It was so sad to see so many trees frozen in place or completely ruined by the weight of the ice on the branches. This was a poor tree on my street, so thankful it didn't fall on my neighbour's roof!

Thankfully our power came back before Christmas day. We were able to celebrate in the warmth of our own home and extremely grateful for friends and family...and little things we take for granted, like power.

A week or two ago we received a bunch of Sally Hansen press sample package and now that we have power back we are slowly but surely sharing what we received. Today on the blog is Sally Hansen's Satin Glam in Chic Pink and Crystalline. Sally Hansen describes the collection as:

"An innovative new line of special  effect polishes that brush on glossy before immediately drying to a satin finish."

"Formula is infused with tiny pearl particles to add a high luster and satin ribbon glow, while the rich, saturated pigments result in an intense colour look."

While I've loved Sally Hansen before my polish obsession started I must admit that the varying bottle shapes for every new collection does kind of irk the OCD in me when I line them up in my melmer. Although I must say that the bottle shape for this collection is pretty cute, I think it's the same bottles they used for the Lustre Shine collection. Onto the swatches...

Sally Hansen Sugar Shimmer Sugar Cloud and Work Of Tart

Awhile back Mir reviewed the Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Collection (post can be read here). Sally Hansen will be releasing a collection called Sugar Shimmer, a textured polish with a shimmery effect.

"New candy-coloured nail polishes that dry to a 3D matte finish for nails that look like they're delicately coated with sugar crystals."

The collection will consist of 6 new shades. Sally Hansen describes this collection as..."A breakthrough formula that gives nails a sugary texture special effect with light-reflecting, multidimensional shimmering finish."

Today we have Sugar Cloud and Work Of Tart to share with you all.

Eylure lashes

Hi Everyone,

I had this draft hiding for so long, I thought it was published!!! eeek.. but without further ado:

Today on the blog, I have sets of Eylure lashes for review.
You may have heard of them because they recently collaborated with Katy Perry and brought out many set of lashes. These lashes were given to me for review purposes, all opinions were my own :)

I find false lashes fascinating but I cannot for the heck of me wear them. I am quite a rough person and eyelash application I think requires quite a bit of 'finesse'. lol!! So I can't say my application is the greatest. Fair warning, ahead you'll see a glimpse at my horrible eye (yes just one! the other one was too swollen from allergies so I let it rest!) and my first-time newbie lashes application haha..
If I haven't scared you off yet with my paper lashes application, click below and enjoy!

warning: after this, it's all pictures of my eyes, if that freaks you out - you have been warned!

Kinetics Happy New Year Limited Edition Collection 2014

Hello readers!
Today I have a sneek peek at the new Kinetics Fall/Winter '14 collection coming out soon. I've previously reviewed Kinetics Urban Legend (posts can be read here and part 2 here) and had nothing but great things to say about the quality of their polishes. Many were one coaters, applied like butter and dried super shiny. So I'm super excited to see another collection release.

This new collection Kinetics is releasing is called the Happy New Year collection, it is limited edition and features 10 glitter topcoats. I love how bright, playful and eye catching this collection is. I think it completely falls in line with everything associated with New Years. I'm curious to see how opaque these glitter polishes are.

Here is what they had to say about this new collection:

"Kinetics is excited to announce their limited edition 2014 collection, titled Happy New Year. The range comprises bright, colorful effect polishes, perfect for festive fun and frolics. Start with flashes of sleek black and white with Kinetics Splatter It! to achieve an effective splat-accent over your nails. Continue with pure solid gold, destined to be one of this season’s top players. Try All-nighter or Goldy to accompany your most glamourous, going-out attire. For a classic and elegant look, experiment with a combination of sophisticated red and pure white with Kinetics R.S.V.P polish. Elegantly accent with gold elements from Joker Joe and secure your party queen status by rounding off with our new All In and Happy New Year mesmerizing multicolor glitters."

Jamberry Nail Shields Review + Giveaway!!!

Hello friends!

Today I'm excited to tell you that Jamberry nails has recently arrived in Canada and I had the chance to give the nail shields a try. I've tried a variety of nail shields/wraps/decals in the past but I've never come across a brand that offers so many cute designs. Jamberry boasts a wear time of up to 2 weeks on fingers and 4 weeks on toes. I've only had my shield on for one day but I will try to keep it on for as long as possible to test this out.

Jamberry has over 300 designs to choose from. A regular sheet comes with 18 wraps which is good for 2-3 applications (depending on nail length). The regular sheets costs $15USD/$17 CAD and are buy 3 get 1 free. You can even upload your own pictures and design your own shields on their website, though that option costs a bit more. (Pricing is $18.75 USD/ $22.50 CAD per sheet, plus a $6 USD / $7.25 CAD setup fee per order.)

So here is the sample sheet I received from Barb, my local Jamberry consultant. I decided to use the stripes to create a nautical themed mani.

I followed this YouTube video for application instructions:

Butter LONDON - WINK Eye Pencil in Indigo Punk

As mentioned before Butter LONDON has created a cosmetics line which came out recently.
Items such as coloured eyeliner, mascara, cream eyeshadows, lippies, tinted balms, & cream blushes. I am sure they'll have other variations as well. Right now the items seem very promising - they go on smoothly, they are pigmented and they have lasting power. (Snuck to an Ulta to check out a few items!)..and of course trying them out myself!

I review two of their lippies here: Click Me!

Today I will be showing you WINK Eye Pencil in Indigo Punk.
It is described as "Violet shimmer. Deep purple anything - a punk rock obsession.".
An obsession, yes it might be one. I love love purple eye products, my #1 being purple mascara which I don't have at the moment to show you... but I just LOVE IT. I tried many many brands over the years and my favourite is STILL Red Earth's V2 Purple mascara which sadly I have to say is no longer available..*cry*. No other brand has stood up to the intensity of it...hopefully I will be able to get my hands on the butter LONDON version soon to test it up!!! But enough rambling lol!

Revlon - Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm in Dawn/Aube

I just thought to post about this but I don't really know what to say ... Maybe another colour may be better since it actually does what it says?

The lipstain stains and the balm is pretty..balmy? haha..

But, let's start from the top.

I decided to expand on the type of lip products I've tried and picked up a 'lipstain'. The purchase was really random and now I think it's a ..regret?
I opened the seal and pulled the cap off the balm end and it was broken and fell onto my carpet. Of course,  MY LUCK.

Also the colour of the stain is much darker than the tube has lead me to believe. It's hard to pick a colour since at Wal-Mart there are no testers!

Everything else is under the cut, mostly because I don't want people to freak out... JUST IN CASE.
So click below for pictures :)

Kinetics Urban Legend Fall/Winter 2013/2014 Collection Part 2

Hello again! I'm back with part 2 of the Kinetics Urban Legend collection, in case you missed part 1 it can be read here. I was planning on having this post up sooner but I've been sick since Thursday :( My head feels so groggy like it's underwater and my throat has been killing me. That's one huge down fall to the seasons changing...the drastic weather changes makes it so easy to catch a cold if you're not prepared.

The Urban Legend Line comes "...with 10 new nail polish colors, each inspired by designers' runway fashions and reflecting life in the big city." Today I have 4 more colours from the collection, these colours are a lot more darker and intense compared to the other 4 from my previous post. Not included in my swatches are the colours Urban Legend and City Queen.

Pantone Colour Challenge

This is just a test for fun.
You click on the blocks and rearrange them on the colour spectrum.

You get a score on a scale between 0 and 99, with 0 being Perfect Color Acuity and 99 being Low Color Acuity.
I actually got zero which is quite a surprise. The lower the score the better your "colour vision".

I do admit it's a bit hard and you need to squint a little.. but try it out and tell me how well you did!! ^_^

Edit: PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Some may experience headaches or other symptoms. Please do not continue if you feel anything negative, I don't want anyone to feel like crap afterwards! <3 <3 <3

Kinetics Urban Legend Fall/Winter 2013/2014 Collection Part 1

Holy shizz you guys! When did summer end...it's freezing here in the city, I definitely didn't get the memo when mother nature decided to drop the warm weather. It was as low as 6 degrees today but on Wednesday it will be as high as 21 degrees! The weather is always so awkward this time of year.

Today I have some of the Kinetics Urban Legend Fall/Winter 2013/2014 to share with you all. This collection consists of 10 colours most of which are darker vampy colours synonymous with the colder weather. Here is how Kinetics describes their new collection:

"This fall, Kinetics brings you Urban Legend, with 10 new nail polish colors, each inspired by a designer's runway fashions and reflecting life in a big city. From sophisticated elegance of up-town life like Cat As Accessory, through sheer elegance of browns in Urbanesse, with conclusion in signature red Urban Legend. The original artwork for the Urban Legend's nail color line was created exclusively for Kinetics' Fall/Winter 2013/2014 Collection."

For part one I have 4 of the lighter colours from the collection to show you all:

Nelly Polish: World's First Dried Polish! Beeny and Looe

Hi friends! Happy Thursday I hope all of you are having a good week! Today I have a product I'm super excited to share with you all. A while back the Royal Air had become much more strict with their regulations and polish coming out of the UK was near impossible. I was so bummed when I heard about it because I love to swap and there are some really amazing brands, big names and indies that are only available in the UK.

For some time I gave up on the idea of purchasing or swapping polishes from the UK until I came across an indie maker who came up with the most brilliant idea ever, dried polish! Who would've thought the answer was that simple! Hilary runs and owns Nelly Polish and she sells the world's first dried polish. The approach is so simple, Hilary sells dehydrated polish already mixed with colour mica/pigments, glitters and mixing balls without the base which makes it completely safe to ship overseas. When you receive the mix all you need to do is add clear polish, shake and ta-da! She offers her polishes in 3 different options, regular premixed polishes priced at $8.92USD, the dried polish in bottles priced at $7.30 or just the dried polish in a packet priced at $4.87. So not only is the idea ingenious, it is very affordable.

The process very simple and fun to do, the package included easy to follow instructions. Hilary kindly sent us Beeny and Looe for review. For Beeny I followed the instructions closely, added polish to the bottle and shook like crazy. I had to pour a little in at a time because the dried polish took up 2/3 of the bottle. For Looe I decided to dump out half of the dried polish first, add polish, mix and then add the remaining dried polish back into the mix. I found that method, although messier mixed better. The entire process was really fun but I sugguest to do the mixing in a well ventilated room or outside.

KKCenterHk Stamping Plate Hello Kitty F13

Hello again friends! Today I have another stamping plate send over to review from KKCenterHk.

This post will feature N.NAIL Hello Kitty KT Heart Bow Flower Doll Stamping Plate. This plate is priced at $5.05USD and contains 11 Hello Kitty themed images. The pattern on the bottom right appears to be upside down...I wasn't quite sure what it was at first but I think it's the shape of a bear.

Free Goodies from L'Oreal Beauty Bar at TIFF

As fellow Torontonians may be aware the Toronto Film Festival is currently underway, the fest runs from Sept 5 to Sept 15. In that short amount of time movies stars, directors, producers and the like flock to Toronto for the event. For the film buffs or celebs stalkers this time is heaven for them. I myself am not a huge movie buff or a fan of celeb stalking so I can't say that I really pay too much attention when TIFF takes place.

Now if some of you are not aware, L'Oreal Paris is actually a big sponsor for the event and while the festival is running they've set up a free beauty bar in David Pecaut Square on King St. I had the chance to drop by today and wanted to share my experience with you all. The beauty bar offers nail, lip or pony tail service for no charge. You are given the option to choose one of the three services, the products they used for the nail and lip bar were from their recently released limited edition Collection Privée.

Priti NYC Polish

Launched in 2005 by Kim D'amato.  She created a luxury eco-friendly nail polish to parallel her efforts to switch to organic foods and health products. Let's just say HORRAY since Priti NYC is pretty amazing - it's 5 free and vegan! Free of Toluene, Dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin and camphor. It's quite fast drying and glossy.
From personal experience, some of the formulas are a tad streaky but with top coat it's dries super smooth and extra shiny.
Application was pretty good and there's no problems in coverage or staining from the ones I've tried. Oh and a plus is due to it being 5 free, it's not freaking overwhelmingly stinky! haha. Being a person who usually puts on polish right before bed, that is a big bonus for me not having to smell nail polish as I try to sleep!

They also have a line just for all the little princesses in our lives, non-toxic and super adorable! they come in 8ml and is $9 on their website. You can check out the line here.

Ps. ALOT if not all of Priti NYC's products are non-toxic, non-carcinogenic, cruelty-free and vegan. Take a look at their Soy Nail Polish Remover.
Also it brings a BIG smile to my face when I read that Priti NYC is very active with various charities and community events which support women issues and the environment.
If you want to know more information just click here. I just posted a bit of general information.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Priti NYC for this opportunity. The colours are just so amazing and it was a pleasant surprise to be getting these. They are SO ME and I just LOVE the colours. If you can't tell already I really like purple ;) hehe..

Also, this post is picture heavy hence the line break, why so many pictures you ask? because.. in different lighting the colour changes and they're all so nice I couldn't pick haha..

here we go!

KKCenterHk Stamper, Scraper and Stamping Plate QA11

Hello again friends! I hope you all had an awesome long weekend. I'm back again with another post. Today I'm very excited to share with you all some goodies KKCenterHk sent over. Last time we reviewed their paper eyelashes (post can be read here)...this time around we were sent 2 nail plates and a scraper/stamper to review. In this post I will be featuring their N.Nail Mini Size Iron Scraper & Size Stamp Set and their N.QA11 N.NAIL Ethnic Style Lace Cat Stripe Stamp Template Plate.

The scraper and stamper set is priced at $4.50USD and comes with plastic scraper 3cm in length and a stamper 2.3cm in diameter. The item pages lists the scraper material to be iron but the one that I received was all plastic. Typically when I stamp I like to use an old gift card or a very rigid piece of paper because I found that the metal scraper really scratched my plates and over time it made my plates look like a hot mess. So I was pretty pleased to try out this all plastic scrapper.

Indie Spotlight: LynBDesgins Part 2

Hello again friends! It feels like ages since I've posted...work has been stressing me out lately and I haven't had time to really sit down and write. But don't worry I'm trying my best to get out of this slump because I have a lot of great stuff to share with you all in the near future.

Awhile back I reviewed a few of LynBDesigns polishes (post can be read here). Since then, Jenna has had some more awesome sales and Mir and I couldn't help ourselves to purchasing a few goodies.

Oobleck
Oobleck is from the "Many Colors of Suess" collection and is so awesome when you look at it in the bottle. It's this bright pale green with green micro shimmer. In the sun it is simply beautiful! In my swatch I used OPI Gargantuan Green Grape as my base colour as oobleck is on the sheer side. The formula was really great and the colour translated very well onto the nail. I believe I used two layers of Oobleck.

Let's Get Mawwied
Lets Get Mawwied is from the "Dweam Wiffim A Dweam" collection and has mutlti coloured pastel glitters in a white base. I was a little disappointed with this one, I found the polish to be very gloppy and difficult to apply. Even with the help of polish thinner I had to do three layers to rid of the bald patches. In the bottle the polish looked really cute and I was drawn in by the mix of the pastel glitters. It does take a bit of effort to apply but definitely worth it.

FACE Stockholm - Nail Polish in 78 & 135

*some pictures were taken quite a while ago and some were recent, hope that explains some of the differences in how I show off the products

I know when I say this someone will want to strangle me but yay it's almost autumn!! This is a time when I usually like to wear darker shimmery shades or what you can call more 'vampy'.  The two colours that I am going to show you totally fit!

They go on like butter, smooth and pigmented! Two coats and it's perfection. I do get a bit of wear around the 3rd-4th day but usually by then I have the urge to change colours anyway! One thing I don't like is that there's no names, only numbers ho-hum.

#78 is an amazing dark shade of velvety purple with a hint of brown and plum. Now when I say brown it's not like it can be classified under that but instead it has a flash shimmer of golden speckles which makes this quite a unique colour.
I used 1 coat of Essie Grow Faster and 2 Coats of #78 and 1 coat of China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.

excuse my ring finger haha! I had a tragedy.

#135 is a gorgeous forest emerald green. It is a shimmer colour so there is a bit of streakiness to it, but it's barely there. It goes on smooth and opaque in two coats. I have to say sorry, I took these pictures before when I had some weird dent in my nail and I feel it's all up in my face! But anyway...
I used 1 coat of Essie Grow Faster and 2 Coats of #135 and no topcoat if I remember correctly. It looks like I didn't really do a great job cleaning up either oopsies!! Before my cuticles were always bothering the heck out of me and greens/blues are the hardest to clean up so I think I just left a glorious mess for all to see.. my bad!

at night w/ flash

With flash

During the day, natural light

Natural light

All in all, FACE Stockholm has some great polishes. I definitely will be looking to purchase a few more. On the plus side.. they are not that pricey at all.. only $12 for 0.5 fl oz / 15 ml ! :D

You can check out their selection here!! They have over 100 colours and finishes to choose from!

oh one thing as I know it bothers a few of my friends.. their regular polish bottles are rectangular but their holographic ones are round!!!

Until next time,

Mir

These products were given in exchange for my honest review.

VIB Rouge Starter Kit

Hiii!!

Having to admit I spent $1000 already in this year..is it even something I should announce ahaha..?
What did I even buy?? I became a member of VIB Rouge. Sephora's newest and highest status aka screaming at everyone that I am a beauty junkie and probably spend too much (is that even possible?) at Sephora!! haah.. but yes I am and I've spent well over that amount, probably don't even want to disclose this lol...

but anyway you can trade in your silver card for a spanking new red one.
Your card comes in this fancy black box sleeve.

and when you slide it open, there's an info card welcoming you "to the top".

Lift that open and you see your contents, a card and a lipstick.

This awesome VIB Rouge package sadly does not include a 10% off card but includes a mini Bite lipstick in a Sephora exclusive red. It's pretty dark and I shockingly have to say I like it!..
Bite goes on really smooth and pigmented, I want to try on other colours before raving lol.

Other benefits include:

  • MY FAVOURITE : Free shipping on all orders online WOOT WOOT!!!!!
  • Surprise gifts (We'll see about that...)
  • Full unlimited access to the beauty studio.. I never really use this but they do have a new IQ foundation matcher demo going on which I might try out!
  • Exclusive events
  • & all the other benefits you get from being a VIB aka free samples, exclusive offers and bday presents.
Honestly, I'm just excited for free shipping without having to hit a minimum! Usually I never see free samples or local events so.... we'll see..

Are you a VIB Rouge yet? Don't think it's as hard as it is to obtain as you think..$1000 easily flies out of your pocket at Sephora ahahah!!!!

Status automatically gets updated, you can pick it up at a store or it should pop up online during check out.

ps. there were the special 5000 / 10000 point perks but I won't talk about those since it's over and it caused me heart break.. because if I knew (since I asked a million times before) I wouldn't have spent sooo many of my points on the other packages :( and I didn't really use those items either sad!!!!!

Until next time,

Mir
